Final works from Surrealism class

>Discuss elements and techniques you employ in your own work that may be reminiscent of those employed by the Old Masters.

My Painting 3 background is reminiscent to Magrette as I mentioned before. (which may not be Old old master though). My background image is cloud and blue sky on little group of helicopters. I want to depict modern city is up on the sky like a fantasy, but somehow saying that life is realistic, but dreamy sometime in my mind. (but can be interpreted other ways from other viewers) It is like when you live in San Francisco for example, you see what is going there, but you tend to not care about what is going on in other part of the world, because you are involved in the place, so the "place" is like just a floating surface like a little carpet.

Doraemon, the Japanese character is a cat robot who came from the future and get whatever you wish from his pocket. (but funny gadgets) This image is he is flying with Takekopter which is a little toy from Asia, but his gadget make himself to fly when he put on his head. I associate his Takekopter when I decided to use the sky image, if I could tell my wish to fly and go somewhere. I think it can relate to my subconscious feeling to get away and have whatever my wishes.

I tend to get stuck while I am taking class, so it is my feeling to fly away where ever I can.

One thing I was not satisfied about this project, we did not received my instructor's comment yet. So I will post here and other artist sites and hope to have some feedback from anybody.

Spring is almost over!!

Hi, Academy of Art University Spring semester is over on 22th of May, (in Japan, 23rd).

I will have one month holiday before starting Summer class. It starts June 21.

I will travel in the country and visit galleries, events, temples and do some walking that I could not do too much during the semester.

If I make some works beside school works, I will post in here. Now time to promote and get out from my studio. (which is living room in my house. I don't have actual studio yet.)

# I borrowed this image from Academy online site.

my mail art page
I think that is the think I want to do, mail art, book art, collage, mixed media etc, so it would be inspiring and have an opportunity to join some events there.

I just received a couple of mail art from the people there. Thanks and I will to post it here soon!

Flowers in Cubism inspired style

Flowers from my garden.

This is excerpt from my class post.

At first, I was doing the way the text say, transfer different images from transfer paper, and draw from the projector. But I could not do well with the composition, so I made collage of different regular sized printed photos. I am almost done, but here I am posting the reference collage that I am painting from.
I wanted to do little advance than traditional set-up of cup and saucer, and I chose to paint flowers in my garden. I took a bunch of pictures from different directions of different flowers. And finally choose 3 images to collage from. The white one is a kind of narcissus, and pink one is a primrose. Narcissus is tilting front. One primrose is an ant view, (looking up) and another primrose is sky view (looking down) including the leaves.
Cubism is hard theme for me, and I have been reference some Japanese art technique book. It says there is two type of Cubism, Cezanne, analytical and Synthetic and Rococo. Synthetic Cubism sometime painted from or on collage or papier colle.

Duck Toys

I had advise that I should make more realistically like toy ducks, so I have to do more on the duck painting I did. Lots of painting to think about....
